In this class we will be learning the Adobe Illustrator Application. I have been working with Adobe Illustrator since 1988. It was called Illustrator 88. Today we will be working with Adobe Illustrator CS5. The application has not changed much since 1988, why, because it is a great application. Hopefully you will love this application. It is really hard to learn at first , but once you learn the basics, you can create any illustration you can imagine. If you have an older version of Adobe Illustrator that is OK. None of the assignments require that you have the latest version.

Learning: How this class works.
  1. Online - You can go to this site at any time. Each week will be a lesson. Each lesson will have video reading and homework.
  2. Practice the application - don't just do the examples shown in the videos/book. Make your own.
  3. Watch the adobe videos - We will use some of the video from the adobe site.
  4. Book for class Visual Quickstart Guide Illustrator CS5 ISBN 0321706617 - yes get this book.
  5. Another great book is Adobe Illustrator CS5 WOW book - ISBN-10: 0321712447 - this book is just recommended.
  6. Make sure to use the email address jrascov2@yahoo.com for this class.
  7. Do 1 lessons a week.
  8. Please start by reading the Syllabus.

Don't have the software - The Adobe software is very expensive. You can buy a students version. But beware some or most of the Students version of the software cannot be upgraded. If you are interested in a career in Digital Media you should buy the entire CS5 Suite.

  1. http://www.collegesoftware.org - This web site probably has the cheapest.
  2. http://www.creationengine.com/ - good price.
  3. http://www.journeyed.com
  4. http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ - You can download a 30 day trial version - it will just as paid version.

Lets look at examples:

  1. Adobe Illustrator class Fall 2008 examples
  2. Adobe Illustrator class Spring 2009 examples
  3. Examples from Adobe web site
