Please let me introduce myself, I am Carl Franzen, voice teacher and Operatic Tenor. I teach voice in my studio in downtown San Jose. I perform in Opera and concert throughout California. I teach the great traditional singing techniques of Caruso, Corelli, Del Monaco, Tebaldi, Freni etc. Great voices are not only born, but nurtured with equally great technique! I teach skills that will serve you whether you aspire to Classical, Opera, Musical Theater, Pop or Jazz singing. I love teaching and truly believe that I must share my talent and experience to be fulfilled. If you have the desire and talent I CAN help you to achieve your best!
My Teaching Methods and Philosophy
  • I give more than just a lesson, I offer a full spectrum of all aspects of vocal training.
  • Training is focused on the student and his/her progress, needs and growth.
  • We will develop a tailormade repertoire appropriate for your unique instrument and interest
  • I seek serious, motivated, mature students, usually over 18, who are pasionate about this artform
  • I can help if you always wanted to sing, but haven't found your inner voice
  • I emphasize correct vocal technique useful in Opera, Musical Theater, Jazz and Pop
  • I teach a modified Melocci method of low larynx singing for clarity and brilliant ringing tones
  • I build the voice's stability from the bottom up. Stability comes from the low. A strong low prevents wobble and strain with a balance of dark and bright ringing tone.
  • I use nurturing vocal techniques to correct pitch, expand your range and increase the resonance of your voice
  • I have a huge library of recordings and sheet music available for student enrichment
  • We will work on personal presentation skills for performance and audition, including posture, dress, stage etiquette and attitude
  • Performance opportunities are available for advanced students
