Biography
Carl Franzen is Artistic Director of Opera Bravura in San Jose, CA. A fine Lyrico Spinto Tenore, performing leading roles of all the great Italian and French and German Divo roles of Puccini, Giordano, Cilea, Leoncavallo, Verdi, Massenet, Gounod, Bizet.
He has a passion for the great operetta composers; Victor Herbert, Sigmund Romberg, Franz Lehar and Ivor Novello.
He is a native San Franciscan
He has performed as Guest Artist
with the Marin Symphony, Kennsington Symphony, Marin-Sonoma Civic Light Opera Pops Galas,
Brown Bag Opera, Pippin's Pocket Opera, Berkeley Opera, Cinnabar Opera, TheatreWorks, Jarvis Conservatory of Music, Mission City Opera and Mission Opera, Livermore Valley Opera and Opera Bravura to name a few..
On the lighter side, Carl has been featured in leading roles in such shows as: Carousel, Sound of Music, Kismet, My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly, Guys and Dolls, Annie Get Your Gun, The Gondoliers and Sweeny Todd just to name a few!
Mr Franzen has sung with reknowned conductors, Johnathan Kuhner, Lazlo Varga, Robert Feist and Donald Pippin.
Carl teaches the Art of Singing in San Jose, California.
Education
Mr. Franzen studied voice with John DeMerchant, Janet Parlova, William McKenna, Blanche Thebom, Edwin Barlowe, Robert Conrad, Mildred Owen and Russell Norman. He attended Skyline Community College and San Fransisco State College as a Music History major.
